Summer Internship Portfolio

Summer Internship Portfolio - Anthony Vaccaro

This is the portfolio for Environment Artist Anthony Vaccaro. It is comprised of some of my best work to give you an idea of the high quality work that I produce.

The Cogshire:

The Cogshire was a 7 team member collaboration project in association with Sony Online Entertainment. The project was to create a 3 node level based in the EverQuest II. This is node 1 and was completed in 10 weeks with the constant feedback from the Sony Online EverQuest II team.

For this project I served as Lead Modeler and Lead Texture Artist. I handled modeling and texturing the majority props in our level and took care of the important structures such as the Library, Workshop and Mine Entrance. I also handled making base textures for the team to use to help keep a sense of cohesion and quality level throughout the Cogshire. I also handled creating modular assets around the town such as windows and mine tracks while also creating LOD versions of the houses in the town.

I worked alongside our other team members of varying skill levels and helped them keep the look and feel of EverQuest II throughout the Cogshire. I did the research on the Gnomes of EverQuest for their lore, buildings and style and helped the team input this into our level. Although to some it seemed that we bit off more than we could chew we were able to far exceed the expectations of the Sony Team and ourselves. I feel this was mainly due to the constant feedback from the SOE Team and the hard work that our Team Lead, Andres Rodriguez and I demonstrated throughout the project.

The following are some screen shots out of the Unreal 3 Engine of our level and some model sheets of the work that I did on this project.

Overall Shot:

This is the overall shot of our first node of The Cogshire running in the Unreal 3 Engine.

Gnome Library:

This is the largest and most iconic structure in our town. With the input of the SOE team I was able to push not only the silhouette but the iconic factor of this building beyond the initial concept art.

Gnome Workshop:

The largest workshop in town is our second most iconic building with its three tier towers billowing out smoke. This workshop hosted a large assortment of the modular assets I created for the town such as windows, pipes and the water tower.

Gnome House:

One of the houses that populated our town and helped to bring our town to life. I took Sony's input of color harmony and silhouette to heart and tried to push them both in not only the models I created but also in the color pallets of those models.

Corrupted Mine Entrance:

The Corrupted Mine Entrance gives the player a hit of the corruption that will fill Node 2 our towns Nightmare Realm.

Cogshire Overall Shot:

Identification Scanner:

This Sci Fi prop was loosly based off a concept of an ammo box by Pual Richards. I decided to push it beyond just a crate and decided to turn it into a Military Identification Scanner.

SINCGARS Radio:

Based off the Military SINCGARS Radio.

Orc Warblade:

This project was to create a weapon as close to the given concept as possible. The concept art is property of Mythic Entertainment

Rune Tree:

This was a Zbrush project where I was to design, sculpt, bake and texture a tree. I decided to go with a Runic Tree pulsing with rune energy. I also opted to make a Light and Dark version of the tree.

Crystal Caves:

This project was to design and build and light a fully playable DeathMatch level using the Unreal 3 engine. The level was set in dark crystal caves that had mine tracks running throughout the level. Using the Unreal 3 Engine I was able to animate the mine carts along the tracks and kill anyone should they get hit by the killer cart. I went for a dark gloomy cave mood with light that would pour down from cracks in the cave top and from the crystals.

The rock walls and crystals are property of Epic Games, all other assets were created by myself. I have removed weapons and ammo pick ups to show off just the environment.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my portfolio.

Comments are always welcome on what I can do to improve.
